Rumbidzai Mufuka, PhD | Founder & Principal

Rumbidzai is a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) and has over ten years of strategic consulting experience in both the private and public sector. Drawing from her expertise in analyzing the motivations, behaviors and intentions of foreign leaders and civil society on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, Rumbi brings a unique perspective to interpersonal and organizational challenges as well as solutions for meaningful and lasting change. She has designed and implemented strategies for clients with Booz Allen, PwC, and Twitter. She added nonprofit clients to her portfolio as the first Director of Impact and Strategic Engagement at Compass, a DC-based nonprofit that provides pro bono consulting to nonprofits. In August 2021, she launched KAVA to offer top-tier consulting to nonprofits and small businesses ready for transformational change.

Rumbi received her M.A. and Ph.D in Political Science and International  Studies from the University of Miami and her B.A. in Political Science from Emory University. Her hobbies include storytelling, reading several books at once, and supporting individuals and families building legacy plans through I Am Willing. She travels between clients in Washington, DC and Portland, ME where she lives with her husband and cat.

Lois Mufuka Martin | Managing Partner

Lois is a seasoned transformational leader with a wealth of experience in community organizing, nonprofit management, and executive search consulting. Her strategic approach combines mission-driven thinking with a deep understanding of operational intricacies. In previous roles, including Managing Director at Diversified Search Group and Vice President for Search and Consulting Services at CalWest, Lois was renowned for building relationships, promoting inclusive and equitable search practices, offering discreet counsel to boards and hiring committees, and creating diverse candidate pools.

With over 15 years in key nonprofit leadership roles, Lois has held leadership roles at the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Bethlehem Haven, and The United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. Her career began as a social worker, children's advocate, and community college transfer counselor, primarily working with first-generation students.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Lois conducts workshops on culture and inclusive hiring practices and provides executive coaching services to clients in the United States, South Africa, and Kenya. She also serves as a board member for Education Matters Africa, supporting the USAP Community School in Zimbabwe, which offers full scholarships to high-achieving, low-income 11th and 12th graders to top-tier colleges worldwide.

Lois's academic background includes a BA in History from Lander University, an M.Ed. in Counseling from Clemson University, and a Certificate in Leading Innovation from The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. Lois and her husband, Derek A. Martin, are proud parents of two young adults actively charting their paths in the world.
